On my last trip to Disneyland, I discovered these books in the cabin at Big Thunder Ranch, as part of the décor--you can touch them, but they're fastened down and immovable. The titles are in Danish--the one on the left appears to be a dictionary or phrasebook, and the one on the right translates as "Denmark in Celebration and Joy. "* I assume they're there to provide ambience and add realism to the cabin as a place where someone might live...but why Danish books? I have my own theory, but I'm interested in what other people might come up with!
*At least according to Google Translate. I know it can be a little dodgy, but I trust it for a simple phrase like this one.
I think these books were previously owned by Walt Disney. They certainly look old enough. I think he bought them when he went to Copenhagen back in the early Fifties. He really admired the way Tivoli Gardens was designed and maintained and used those principles in building Disneyland.
